Hello and Welcome!

I’m Courtney (she/hers), a Registered Psychologist and Director of Courtney Brown Psychology. My therapeutic style is guided by the belief that each individual possesses an innate capacity for self-healing. At Courtney Brown Psychology, we view therapy as a transformative journey, uncovering pathways towards healing and personal growth.

Our practice delivers evidence-based treatments, ensuring you receive the highest standard of care on your healing path. We embrace an integrative philosophy, prioritising person-centred, trauma-informed, and holistic approaches that honour the complexities and interconnectedness of mind, body, spiritual and relational dimensions of self. This comprehensive method aims to facilitate deep, meaningful, and lasting change in your life.

Person-centred: Person-centred care emphasises your autonomy and self-exploration within a supportive, empathetic, therapeutic environment, fostering personal growth and self-healing without imposing judgments or directives.

Trauma informed: Trauma-informed care is an approach that recognises the widespread impact of trauma and emphasises safety, trustworthiness, and empowerment in therapeutic relationships. It aims to create a supportive environment that validates and addresses the unique needs of individuals who have experienced trauma, promoting healing and recovery.

Holistic approach: Our holistic approach considers the interconnectedness of mind, body, spiritual and relational dimensions of self, aiming to address all aspects of an individual's well-being. It integrates diverse therapeutic approaches and evidence-based information, to promote comprehensive healing and personal growth.

As a practitioner, I prioritise creating a safe, warm and welcoming space for my clients. With several years experience working with children, youth, and adults in a counselling setting. I draw upon the following therapeutic approaches and theories; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Breathwork, Somatic Interventions, Motivational Interviewing and Attachment Theory. Additionally, I have undertaken some further training regarding nutrition and its connection to mental well-being, as there is a growing body of evidence solidifying the relationship between diet and psychological health. This additional knowledge allows me to provide integrated and comprehensive care that considers the crucial role of nutrition in supporting overall well-being. However, I am not a qualified Nutritionist and if together we feel that you may benefit from additional support in this area, referral pathways may be discussed.

I have a new found area of interest, working in the Perinatal Mental Health space. After a recent lived experience of a traumatic birth, followed by quite a turbulent entry into the journey of parenthood. It was through this experience, I allowed myself space. Space to seek healthy solitude, to reconnect with my body and sense of self, to return to my love of learning and embrace social supports outside of my typical circle. This journey has led not only to the birth of my beautiful son, but also to the birth of Courtney Brown Psychology.

Outside of the therapy chair, I am a Mother to a beautiful rainbow baby, a furry four legged doggo (French Bulldog) and a wife. I’m quite adventurous. I love the outdoors, connecting with nature, spending time with my special people, travelling, listening to a good poddy or audiobook, martial arts, hitting the slopes in winter (snowboarding), riding motorcycles (road bikes) and engaging in regular introspection (meditation, mindfulness, journaling and reflective practice). All of these things, within balance help to keep my cup and heart full.

Courtney Brown Psychology is a passion project, one of the heart, inspired by my littlest love. My goal is to walk alongside you, to be your guide, as we work together to reorient you to your innate self-healing ability.
